Maxxis Assegai 29×2.50" WT Kevlar 3CG/DD/TR Tire
The Maxxis Assegai tire is named after the spear used in battles by members of the Zulu tribe in South Africa. Greg Minnaar, a South African native, thought it was a fitting name for a tire used to fight on the mountain slopes. The high lugs cut precisely into the sand or dirt, but also provide traction on wet roots or rocks. While other tires excel on certain surfaces, the Assegai makes for a truly fast ride everywhere.

Wide Trail (WT)
Maxxis tires based on the Wide Trail construction are optimized for modern wide rims (30-35 mm). As a result, a tire worn on a wide rim maintains an optimal round profile without unwanted flattening, offering maximum performance.
- Wide Trail tires for trail, enduro and downhill use are designed for 35 mm inner width rims and are compatible with 30-35 mm rims.
- Wide Trail tires for XC use are designed for rims with an internal width of 30 mm and are compatible with 25-30 mm rims.
Tubeless Ready (TR)
If you plan to ride tubeless and get rid of excess grams and punctures, choose Tubeless Ready tires. These use a sealant-compatible compound and have a reinforcement in the sidewall to strengthen puncture resistance. They also feature a special tubeless bead that adheres better to the rim. Tubeless tires can also be used with inner tubes.
Doubledown (DD)
The next step in the development of two-layer tires for enduro racing. Two 120 TPI layers are complemented by reinforcement in the sidewall, giving the enduro racer the durability of a downhill tire in a lighter package.
3C MaxxGrip (3CG)
A soft combination of three compounds for uncompromising grip and unrivalled traction on descents. This is the same compound used in Downhill and Enduro World Series tires.
