Maxxis Assegai Tire
The tire of Maxxis Assegai bears the name of the spear used in combat by members of the South African Zulu tribe. Greg Minnaar, a native of South Africa, acknowledged that it was a suitable name for a tire used to fight on mountain slopes. The high protrusions are precisely cut into sand or clay, but at the same time ensure traction on wet roots or stones. While other tires excel on a certain surface, the Assegai allows for really fast driving everywhere.
Parameters
- Compound: 3C MaxxGrip
- Protection: EXO+
- Purpose: Trail, DH, enduro
- TPI: 60
3C MaxxGrip (3CG)
Soft combination of three compounds for uncompromising grip and unrivaled traction on slopes.
Wide Trail (WT)
Maxxis tires based on the Wide Trail construction are optimized for modern wide rims (30-35mm). Thanks to this, the tire worn on a wide rim maintains an optimal round profile without unwanted flattening, and thus offers maximum performance.
- Wide Trail tires for trail, enduro and downhill use are designed for rims with an inner width of 35 mm and are compatible with 30-35 mm rims.
- Wide Trail tires for XC use are designed for rims with an inner width of 30 mm and are compatible with 25-30 mm rims.
Tubeless Ready (TR)
If you plan to get rid of excess grams and worries about defects, choose tires with the label Tubeless Ready. They use a compound compatible with sealant and have a reinforcement in the sidewall that strengthens the resistance to puncture. They also feature a special tubeless bead that adheres better to the rim. Tubeless tires can also be used with a tube.
EXO+
The EXO+ designation means a combination of EXO and SilkShield technologies. The SilkShield layer protects the entire surface of the tire from bead-to-bead, while EXO strengthens the sidewalls. Together, EXO+ technology increases:
- tread puncture protection by 27%,
- sidewall durability by 51%,
- resistance to pinch flats by 28%.
