Fox Proframe Helmet: The Legend Continues
30th May 2022 | 0 comments
The highly successful enduro and all mountain full face helmet Fox Proframe is back! Discover the latest version of this helmet, which has gained extraordinary popularity thanks to the perfect combination of uncompromising protection of full face helmets with the breathability common in more open helmets.
This unique helmet has already earned a lot of praise from the independent media, so let's recap why it's still the top of the market.
Protection
Let's not beat around the bush, safety is kind of the absolute basics with helmets. And in this respect, of course, the Fox Proframe excels. While this full face is unexpectedly light, its uncompromising stiffness is all the more surprising. This applies to its entire construction, including the chin guard, which is why it has also received ASTM F1952 downhill approval! The less demanding European standard EN 1078 is commonplace and in this case it is hardly worth talking about. What should interest you, however, is the MIPS technology that takes the protective properties of the Fox Proframe helmet even further. This increasingly popular solution, inspired by the human skull, reduces the rotational forces generated on impact at an angle to provide even better protection for the brain. Find out more about MIPS in a separate article. And that is not all - the EPS shell is made using Varizorb technology, which combines a two-density material to further improve the helmet's protective properties.
Comfort
Because the helmet needs to be usable in real life, it should be great to ride in. For a long time and under all conditions. That's why the Fox Proframe full face helmet is also incredibly comfortable. The combination of 15 inlet and 9 outlet vents makes the helmet extremely breathable, so you won't have a head like in a furnace, even when ascending in warm weather. And that's not something you can say about every full face helmet. Another work in the mosaic of comfort is the moisture-wicking and antimicrobial padding. The result is a dry head and no unpleasant odours. Fidlock fastening is easy to use and provides perfectly worry-free fitting. Add to that the aforementioned light weight and zero worries about the chin part, which is breathable thanks to the giant open area, as if it weren't there, and you're looking at one of the most comfortable full face models to ever see the light of day.
Style
If the helmet is to make you happy in every way, it also has to look good. In our opinion, the Fox Proframe fulfills this parameter perfectly. The aggressive design is not only functional, but also gives the helmet a stunning style. The desire to throw yourself full on downhill literally radiates from the Fox Proframe full face helmet!
What our team rider Štěpán Hartl says
"I use the Fox Proframe helmet for enduro and downhill. When riding a trail or smaller rides, I choose the open Speedframe model. However, the Proframe has proven to be an excellent choice for downhill as well, and it's great to pedal in. When ascending, just take off your goggles and you can easily keep it on your head. It's a helmet that breathes beautifully, is incredibly light and fits me exactly right. There are about three pad sizes in the package, so you can adjust the size however you want. The weight is incredibly light, I haven't had a lighter helmet yet. The ventilation is great, so you sweat minimally.
As for the risk associated with large vents, I don't share some riders' fear of sticking a branch into it. The risk of this horror scenario is minimal, and if you were to get hit by a sharp object, God forbid, it would probably be somewhere other than the helmet hole.
The Fidlock magnet fastening is absolutely brilliant. You put it on, snap it on and nothing inadvertently opens. Definitely one of the best fasteners on the market and it's downhill approved. Also important for me is the MIPS technology, which has saved my head more than once in other helmets. So far, I have only tested Proframe on my chin and it took up this impact without any problems. Therefore, I can't confirm the critical voices about this helmet breaking. If the helmet breaks during a hard crash, but it saves your life, as it did for my friend, that's fine. That's what it's all about.
I ride the Fox Proframe everywhere, summer, winter, rain, and I've won the Enduro series twice. It's the best full face helmet I've ever had."
