Smith Forefront 2 MIPS Bike Helmet
Forefront 2 is an update to the great and much appreciated Forefront helmet. It's ready for action and ideal for all-mountain riders who need unrivalled protection, ventilation and the ability to integrate goggles.
The premium protection is provided by a durable shell along with Koroyd and MIPS technologies that absorb energy in both direct and oblique impacts. The sophisticated design also ensures you'll be comfortable thanks to the VaporFit system, which you control with a rotary wheel to make the helmet fit like a glove. Ventilation holes together with AirEvac technology ensure a constant feeling of freshness, and you'll appreciate practical features such as the adjustable visor, sunglasses grips and the ability to attach a camera or light.
Technology
- Koroyd - complete coverage with a protective layer that is lightweight, breathable and absorbs energy during impacts
- MIPS - a layer for extra protection of the brain against the rotational forces that arise during impacts at an oblique angle
- The integrated shell creates a protective cage for greater strength and impact protection.
- The VaporFit system with a rotating wheel offers a 270° range for perfect adaptation to your head
- AirEvac™ ventilation that is ready to integrate with Smith goggles and sunglasses for clear visibility without fogging

MIPS
Helmet equipped with MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) technology consists of three main parts. EPS polystyrene shell, MIPS sliding liner and elastomers that connect the first two parts.
The source of inspiration for the MIPS patent is the human brain.
The brain is surrounded by cerebrospinal fluid, which allows the brain to move within the skull and is protected from impact. Mimicking the brain's natural protection, the unique MIPS technology also works to reliably protect your brain from impacts and reduce the shocks that are transmitted to it.
The thin MIPS friction layer is placed between the inner padded part and the upper EPS shell of the helmet by means of specially developed flexible grips. Its arrangement does not interfere with the overall look or shape of the helmet, does not reduce comfort, nor does it interfere with the technical properties. At the moment of impact, the MIPS layer moves with the head independently of the direction of impact, limiting the rotation of the brain, which can pose a great danger.
