Arbor Cypress Men's Snowboard Binding

Arbor Cypress binding combines sustainability with superior performance. That's because this refined freeride binding comes with a new Bio Strap ankle strap this year, which is made from plant-based materials and offers a lighter, more comfortable fit.

The binding is ready to deliver great performance on wide and steep slopes. It features an exclusive System X Baseplate with even more fiberglass for superior stiffness and durability. The combination of a lightweight and stiff highback along with the improved baseplate support will promote your board's natural flexibility. If you like to see the world around you turn into disappearing blurs with speed and enjoy exploring untouched trails, the Arbor Cypress will be your perfect sidekick.

* When mounting bindings to the Channel system (Burton, Endeavor), you need to use the appropriate screws. Using the wrong ones can cause irreversible damage to the snowboard.

Specifications

  • Flex: 4/5
  • Level: Advanced, Expert
  • Terrain: resort, backcountry
  • Bio Strap – Lightweight, sustainable plant material strap replaces plastic material. The injection-moulded strap is lighter, stronger and provides a secure fit to the foot with its comfortable flex and low-profile design.
  • 2XD Footbed – double density footbed design. The upper layer of harder material provides better contact with the board and durability, while the lower layer absorbs shocks and provides comfort when impacting or riding on hard surfaces. The footbed has a 1.5° lean for an ergonomic position of the joints.
  • System X Design:
    • Baseplate - The X-shaped baseplate connects two points under the toe and two under the heel to transfer your energy, so you have better control over the edges. At the same time, the direct contact of the snowboard with the center of the baseplate under the disc is reduced, so the snowboard can naturally bend under the feet and the binding/board connection is not so rigid.
    • Durometer 65A Outsole – part of the System X design is a damping interface made of special TPE rubber, which lies directly between the binding and the baseplate. The outsole absorbs high-frequency vibrations, provides cushioning and dampens sharp impacts.
  • Adjustable aluminum heelcup - The adjustable aluminum heelcup in the Cypress Black bindings is a feature that allows you to customize the fit of the binding to your boot. This adjustability ensures a snug and secure fit, enhancing your control and comfort while riding. The use of aluminum provides durability and strength, making it a reliable component for high-performance snowboarding.
  • Bow Strap Adjuster – a shaped bow strap that actively deflects itself outwards for easier entry into the binding.
  • Cast Aluminum Buckles and Levers – Upgraded cast aluminum buckles offer clean and reliable performance, long life, stronger fastening for an unmatched connection to the boot.
  • 2x4 Universal Mini-Disc - the discs occupy a smaller area and, together with the System X construction, help ensure the natural bending of the snowboard in the binding area. They are compatible with the Channel system.
  • Asymmetrical Highback – asymmetrical highback with 5º lateral rotation for ergonomic comfort and free movement.
  • Fiberglass Reinforcing – the base of the binding contains 30% fiberglass for even more strength and stability.
  • EVA Footbed – foam insole ensuring shock absorption, comfort, durability and a better feeling of riding on hard surfaces.

How to Choose Snowboard Bindings

Rule number one: boots first, bindings second! The right snowboard equipment must match and fit perfectly, so don't underestimate the importance of your choice and follow a few important steps.

Choosing the right bindings depends on several different factors. The stiffness of the bindings, size, type, material and the amount you are willing to invest are all important. We have a simple guide on how to make the best choice. But if you're still confused, drop by our shop in Brno. Together we'll talk it through and recommend the best yet personalised fit for you.

First and foremost - The Boots

The binding adjusts to the size of the boots. That's rule number one. If you're picking out your bindings in a store, it's ideal to take your boots with you and try them on to see how they fit. The straps of the binding should fit snugly around them. The easiest option is to combine binding and boots of the same brand. The models are designed to fit together automatically.

Soft or Firm Binding?

You should choose the stiffness of your snowboard and bindings according to your riding style. Softer bindings are more playful and suitable for both beginner riders and freestyle riders. A slightly stiffer binding should be chosen if you prefer rough carving on the piste or freeride.

There are several types of bindings:

Classic two-strap binding

Soft bindings consist of baseplate, heelback and straps. The method of fastening can be either over the toe or over the instep.

Speed Entry

First, you set a strap that you do not manipulate any further. The bindings are entered through the heel, so it is a much faster way of slipping on.

Step On

A simple and at the same time very quick way to put on your boots into binding. If you don't like to bend over and downright hate sitting in the cold snow before every ride, you'll love the Step On.

Which foot goes first?

Advanced snowboarders already know which foot is in front and which is in the back. But if you're a complete beginner who's never stood on a board before, there's a simple trick to find out. Just try to run outside for a bit and take the longest jump you can. Did it work? And which foot did you bounce off the ground with? That's the foot that's supposed to be the first on a snowboard. If you're not 100% sure of the outcome, ask a friend or family member to stand behind you and gently push you forward unexpectedly. Again, the foot that goes out first is the one that will be on the board in the front.

What angles to choose when mounting bindings

And speaking of the direction of the bindings, it's important to keep in mind the angle at which to attach the bindings. Whether you prefer downhill or you prefer to jump on rails, you'll be comfortable riding in the 15° and -9° positions.

Bindings overhang over the edge of the snowboard

Once you've managed to attach the bindings and you're happy with both the angle and straddle of your feet, all that's left to do is check one last important detail. The bindings (including boots) must not overhang the heel more than the toe (or vice versa). An unbalanced position of the bindings can cause a problematic ride - in short, you'll be hitting the snow with your boots and bindings every now and then. And that spoils the feeling of a perfect ride!
