Product Focus: Magped Magnetic Pedals
14th June 2022 | 0 comments
Do you want a stronger connection and traction on platforms, but don't want to use clipless pedals because of the uncertainty of technical riding? Then the Magped pedals should definitely interest you! Let's take a look at how this invention works.
Magped are innovative magnetic pedals for mountain, gravel and road bikes. They do not have a mechanical lock, but a patented magnetic mechanism that allows easy release whenever needed. Compared to mechanical clipless pedals, the risk of falling is reduced to a minimum and you can focus on riding without fear.

Benefits of Magped pedals
- Allowed circular motion involving both extensor and flexor muscles for maximum performance.
- Despite the use of a magnetic system, Magped pedals are comparable in weight to other top pedals.
- The pedal allows the foot to rotate to the side, reducing stress on the ankles.
- The pulling force depends on the choice of magnet, but is around 18 kg in the case of a 150N magnet. You can easily release the shoe from the pedal by swinging your foot out. In a critical situation, the force of the magnet can also be overcome by vertical force.
- Metal sole pads are compatible with SPD shoes. The reduction in efficiency due to dirt is not significant and the big advantage is completely undisturbed walking experience. The pad of the Magped system usually does not protrude outwards from the sole.
- The pedal contains three closed industrial bearings and the pins can be replaced if necessary. Adjustable high-performance neodymium magnets via an integrated damper unit.
Magnet size recommendations
To serve you well, Magpeds are available in several variants, which differ in magnet size. We recommend that you consider your weight and riding style when choosing one. For bigger bikers and enduro riding, the stronger 200N magnet is more suitable.
- 100N for riders up to 65 kg
- 150N for riders 65-90 kg
- 200N for riders over 75 kg and enduro riding
