Black Crows: Pure Skiing Freedom

The hot new addition to our portfolio is the independent French freeski brand Black Crows. What makes it special and what are its principles?

How it all started

In 2006, two professional skiers, true ski warriors from Chamonix, France, decided to change the world of freeskiing. At that time, the market lacked skis that reflected the diversity of freeskiing, were wide enough, rotating and versatile enough. So Camille Jaccoux and Bruno Compagnet set out to fix that. They teamed up with Christophe Villemin, already a respected authority in the field, and began to develop their dream ski.

 

The first model developed under its own brand with black crows was called Corvus and was born out of a desire to create a truly freeride ski that had never existed before. The Corvus was designed to handle deep powder and fast turns. Success came and the first Black Crows model quickly became a favorite of the local freeski community.

The model line subsequently began to grow with more playful, powerful and reliable skis with sleek designs. The popularity of the Black Crows quickly grew beyond the French Alps and nothing prevented the expansion into international markets. Major awards from industry magazines are proof that the Black Crows have taken off in the right direction. Just as innovative as the products themselves is the Black Crows presentation, which includes novel campaigns, music events in cities and mountains, and unusual partnerships with other brands and stores.

The company has grown a lot since its early days, with freestyle skier Julien Regnier adding to the team of experienced development experts, but the founders themselves are still involved in product design in Chamonix.

Black Crows Philosophy

The Black Crows skis were built on the principles of freedom, joy and unique design, which they still hold true today. The new approach to freeskiing allows skiers to enjoy the freedom of the outdoors even more, swirl powder more intensely, carve turns faster and climb uphill with more confidence. Going hand in hand with the new experience is the beauty of the skis themselves, which stand out from the crowd with their clean and unusually elegant graphics. Renowned Parisian designer Yorgo Tloupas is responsible for the Black Crows' unmistakable aesthetic, and his work contributes greatly to the unique character of the Black Crows.
