Why Vibram?

Vibram was founded by the Italian Vitale Bramani, who also gave it its name. After inappropriate footwear played a role in the tragic deaths of several climbers and his friends, Bramani realized that it was time to come up with a durable and sticky sole that would better insulate against cold and moisture. And so in 1937 the first Vibram sole made of vulcanized rubber was born.

Climbing shoes with a Vibram sole became especially famous in 1954, when a team of Italian climbers overcame a challenging ascent to K2. In the 1960s, Vibram soles began to be produced in North America. This was followed by the introduction of the oil-resistant Vibram Security safety sole.

Since 1969, you can recognize the Vibram sole by the iconic octagonal yellow badge "marca oro".

Later, the offer was expanded by the light Evaflex sole for walking and formal shoes or the extremely sticky Vibram Grip for freeclimber.

A number of other technologies and materials for specialized types of footwear followed, and Vibram continues to move the technology forward to the present day.
