Impact protection with Koroyd technology

News

16th April 2021 | 0 comments

It's not just a trend that safety should play the main role in extreme sports and outdoor activities.

Companies making research and developing protective gear such as helmets, pads or protectors have discovered Koroyd® technology. It has excellent absorbing properties and protects exposed body parts from unpleasant and dangerous impacts in a more efficient and technically advanced way than ever before.

What is Koroyd®?

Let's take a closer look at Koroyd® technology and see how it actually works. Koroyd® is a co-polymer tubular structure used as an anti-impact core for products such as bike helmets.

This way Koroyd can eliminate adverse effects of some falls or collisions. In addition to its excellent absorption properties, it is also exceptionally lightweight, which is appreciated especially by performance athletes.

        Patented production process

Koroyd is produced during the patented manufacturing process that involves several steps:

        • Co-polymer extrusion
        • Thanks to thermal welding the outer core becomes molten, creating thus a strong and consistent weld between all tubes

In short, tens of thousands of extruded co-polymer tubes are thermally welded, creating a unique, consistent and technically perfect protective core Koroyd®.

          How does it all work?

To help prevent life-affecting injuries, your helmet should absorb both direct (linear) force and rotating motion. Comparative tests with other helmet technologies have shown that Koroyd® absorbs the most direct force (linear energy) regardless of the type of impact (direct or angled). This means that it decreases the pressure on your skull thus reducing the risk of injury from blunt head trauma. By absorbing the maximum amount of force from all types of impacts, Koroyd® is also able to reduce the rotating motion which your brain could endure as a result of an angled impact.

Koroyd’s tube structure crumples instantly and consistently on impact, absorbing more force with greater reliability compared to any other energy absorber.

Perfect protection thanks to three basic features

                Exceptional shock energy absorption

The combination of precise and unique thermal welding process creates a structure with extremely effective energy absorption properties. Upon impact, this structure then acts as a protective layer which absorbs the energy of the impact and collapses.

                Full breathability

Koroyd® is an energy absorber which is fully breathable and does not compromise the impact performance. Koroyd's open cell construction allows cool air in and hot air out. Thanks to this Aerocore construction, Koroyd® provides ventilated protection.

                Engineered protection

Each area of the Koroyd is designed to the exact requirements of hardness, size and roughness to provide the greatest possible impact resistance while looking elegant and aesthetically pleasing.

                All helmets with Koroyd® technology.
