Frame

The basis of the Vala is the traditionally durable and lightweight carbon frame with sophisticated geometry that can withstand the demands of even the toughest bikers. When it comes to wheel size, the MX configuration has already proven to be the best choice in terms of balance between confidence, handling and fun performance. Plus, it helps compensate for the added weight of the battery and gives more freedom for different rear set-up lengths. The frame is covered by a lifetime warranty and is available in C or premium CC versions, which feature unrivalled build quality, durability, stiffness and lightness.

In Santa Cruz, they decided to take advantage of the comprehensive experience with the VPP system and develop a new rear shock for the Vala with a simple one piece link that can be better integrated into the ebike and allows optimal kinematics for the best handling characteristics. In addition, you can adjust the geometry through flip chip.

Another advantage of the new design is the longer space for the dropper post - up to 210 mm in size L.

In Santa, they know that details matter, which is why the Vala's suspension design has been thought out down to the last screw:

• Stiff one-piece bridged link for chassis stiffness and protecting the shock from side loads. The stuff that causes other four-bar bikes to go soft.
• Seatstay bridge adds rigidity so the suspension can smoothly track rather than twisting.
• Standard tools are all you need to work on the bike.
• Main pivots and seat tube pivot are the same hardware that they use across other bikes for maximum compatibility. Santa Cruz came up with this design and many other manufacturers are copying it today.
• All parts are available to order.
• The bearings are extremely robust and can be dismantled without special tools. Bigger ball bearings are less sensitive to contamination.
• Main pivots and flip chip are designed so that small parts cannot drop out during disassembly.
• All 5mm Allen key broaches throughout, so it's easy to do quick bolt checks.
• Threads at chainstay, seatstay pivots, and shock mount are all replaceable. So if you do damage by being a ham-fisted mechanic it’s a simple fix, not a frame-damaging one.
• Lower shock mount allows for progression adjustment.
• You can attach tools under the top frame tube.

Drive Unit

The Bosch Performance Line CX drive system is market-leading and the latest version is even quieter, lighter and more compact. That this brand delivers reliable solutions has long been proven in practice. The Vala electric bike drive unit offers 4 standard modes:

• Eco
• Tour
• eMTB
• Turbo

With the Bosch Flow app, you can adjust the modes, plus you can update the firmware or plan your route.

SMART display and control:

• Control is wireless for clean installation.
• The display in the top frame tube is clearly visible, yet discreete
• Wireless speed sensor

The system is powered by a 600 Wh battery integrated into the bottom frame tube to reduce weight, noise and volume. This also eliminates unnecessary mechanisms. The size of the battery is designed for an optimal weight to capacity ratio, and the frame itself has helped to lighten the weight. But if that's not enough for you, you can add an additional 250Wh PowerMore battery, sold separately.

The drive unit delivers up to 85 Nm of torque, 600 W of peak power and weighs just 2.8 kg.
