The Smith Summit Mips multi-purpose helmet is the first of its kind to come from the Smith brand. Peak Design

Literally. This helmet is simply made for the mountaintops. Its design incorporates elements that are almost invisible and will be used not only for day tours, but also for multi-day expeditions, whether you're going on a splitboard, on skis or on foot.

• When you're in steep terrain and it gets dark, the last thing you need is to be constantly fixing your headlight or worrying about it slipping off your helmet. Thanks to the grooves on the Summit helmet, you can put those worries behind you. They hold the strap in place, the light shines right in front of you, and you can focus on the road.
• You can also forget about the tricky process of attaching the helmet to the mesh on the backpack. Just pull up the elastic loops that you'll find hidden on the sides of the helmet. Clip them into any strap on your pack, or attach them with a carabiner - it doesn't matter. It's quick and easy.
• You need to pack light for difficult trips. At just 400g, you get premium gear with Koroyd and MIPS protective technologies ready to absorb energy in the case of a fall.

 

 

What About Safety Features?

• Hybrid Construction: to achieve lightness without compromising on functionality, the helmet is constructed from a combination of an outer durable shell and an inner moulded layer. This increases durability in the most critical areas.
• Zonal Protection: the Koroyd® is placed in strategic zones in the helmet. You get protection where you need it, while the helmet maintains its lightness. The Koroyd structure is designed for controlled absorption of impact forces, plus it has ventilation properties.
• MIPS Brain Protection: a cerebrospinal fluid-inspired layer that creates a safe environment for your head during treacherous oblique impacts. It allows the layers of the helmet to slide over each other to absorb much of the rotational forces.

 

 

Precisely Tuned Fit

Comfort and a precise fit are key features, especially for a helmet that you'll be wearing all day. The Summit's design takes the best features of BOA's closure technology and integrates it into the helmet with a special rear panel with an adjustable wheel. The panel was designed to be lightweight and flexible, which you'll appreciate when you pack it up. You'll be able to adjust the circumference to perfection once it's on. Just twist a few times and you're ready to go.

The Summit helmet has been designed for versatility and maximum customization for your current needs. That's why you won't find the warm padding typical of winter helmets on it. So you can take full advantage of the 33-hole ventilation system when you're out on a hard run or in the rocks this summer. The helmet comes with a lightweight cap made of a special technical fabric, which you can easily pack in your pocket and pull out only when you need it. You can also use your favourite beanie or cap instead - it fits under the helmet without compromising on comfort or safety.
