Jones Youth Solution Splitboard

All Jones snowboards and splitboards have two colour variations of the Flip-Flop Base, reducing waste in production. The base color variation is random, not tied to a specific size.

A sophisticated split for small riders who aren't afraid to explore the possibilities of backcountry terrain. The splitboard is tailored for kids without sacrificing the technology and features of an adult board. The directional rocker/camber shape handles variable snow conditions playfully, and the tapered tail encourages smooth powder float. The Youth Solution also features a contoured 3D Contour Base 1.0 that helps eliminate edge catching, and on icy, hardpacked surfaces the board will grip thanks to Traction Tech 2.0 edges.

The Sintered 8000's fast base will promote a great riding feel that will leave you feeling confident thanks to the reliable Karakoram Clips locks, under which the core is reinforced with Boltless Bridge technology. So you can take on a bolder ride in wild terrain while still feeling the maximum amount of confidence from your board.

Contour Base 3.0

Freeride-focused 3D base contours with an even 7mm bevel ratio at the tip and tail improve glide, float in powder, and promote fast riding and flow.

Specifications

  • Flex: 3/5
  • Level: advanced, expert
  • Suitable for: downhill, all-mountain 8/10; freeride, powder 10/10; freestyle, park 4/10
  • Shape: Directional
  • Profile: Directional Rocker – a hybrid rocker/camber. Offers increased maneuverability and, thanks to the increased lift, also better buoyancy in deep snow. Camber directly under the binding improves response and edge grip.
  • 8.5 mm Taper: taper in the tail allows for easy turning in any conditions
  • Classic Core: All-wood premium poplar core offers fun pop, even bend, and great durability.
  • Lamination: Biax Fiberglass - a bi-directional, two-layer, stitched fiberglass laminate that provides a fun, forgiving and sleek ride
  • Locks: Karakoram Ultra Clips - sophisticated low-profile Karakoram Ultra Clips are lighter for a solid connection and you can tighten them as your splitboard ages
  • Stainless steel protection: reinforced tip and tail of the snowboard for greater durability
  • Base: Sintered 8000 - made of Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene and carbon; very durable, quick and easy to repair; already waxed with natural Wend wax at the factory
  • Ecoplastic Topsheet: an ecological topsheet made from castor beans, with a fine texture for even greater durability. It is ultra-light, scratch-resistant, snow-repellent - it does not stick to the board.
  • Forever Flex - a new manufacturing process that helps maintain the same level of flex and rocker throughout the life of the board

Shape Tech

  • Inner/Outer Traction Tech 2.0: Outer and inner edge technology provides grip even on icy climbs or descents on harder surfaces.
  • Boltless Bridge: The wooden core under the clips is thicker, which ensures better torsional rigidity and a stronger connection at the clips.
  • Blunt Nose: shaped nose of the board that floats better in deep snow and prevents slowing down in powder
  • Progressive Sidecut: At the far ends of the sidecut, the radius gradually increases as the edge reaches the contact point. Gradually increasing the sidecut radius towards the contact point results in smoother turn initiation and exit, as the edge enters and exits the snow with less abrupt transition.
  • Tapered shape 12.5 mm - thanks to the tapered shape, the tail sinks more into the snow and gives you a better feeling of floating

Sustainability

  • Bio resin - using a greater proportion of resin from natural raw materials, instead of petroleum. Producing bio resin reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 33%.
  • Strong recycled edges - oversized edges made from recycled material are more sustainable and stronger
  • Flip-Flop base - each model is produced with a base in 2 color variations, which reduces waste during production; the color variant is random, not tied to a specific size
  • Sidewalls made of recycled ABS

How to choose splitboard?

Choosing the right splitboard gear is one of the most important steps to getting the most out of splitboarding. That's why we've prepared a How To section in cooperation with #FreerideTV. Today we'll give you advice on how to choose a splitboard, what to wear and how to try to avoid unpleasant situations in the mountains. Let's do it!

Splitboarding is a sport that attracts more and more people. It's an escape from the crowded resorts and a longing for icy silence in the middle of the woods and mountain tops. However, much more than other sports, the right equipment is very important in splitboarding because it can save your life. In addition to the splitboard and bindings, essential equipment includes pucks, climbing skins, poles and avalanche safety equipment.

You can do without them when you first start splitboarding, but in time every enthusiast will appreciate them. And by these we mean crampons. These are used in steep slopes and traverses on frozen surfaces.

The last important piece of the whole puzzle is the the right freeride clothing and avalanche backpack that can comfortably hold your avalanche gear. And how to put it all together and not go crazy, Dominik will advise you in the above mentioned video.
